With a vigilant eye to today’s fashion culture, the master of dark dressing, Rick Owens shy’s away from anything of the norm. Allowing a sometimes controversial pathway for the non-linear market, the American born, Paris based designer has opened his first freestanding store in Hong Kong. Fun fact: It’s his biggest store in Asia to date. Housing menswear, womenswear, accessories, as well as his diffusion line DRKSHDW, the three storey, 3800 square foot space screams minimalistic clean freak. Monochromatically ordered, Rick celebrates his new store, stating that “I’ve designed the store to correspond to a primal ideal I set for myself—quiet emptiness, stone, and light. Walls are concrete blocks custom-molded with an angular Brutalist design I saw on a wall a long time ago in Berlin and never found again. I might have dreamed it" The best bit of it all? The uncanny mannequin of Rick crawling on the floor, acting as a slicker than your average ‘support’ for the glass table.
