Thamanyah debuts womenswear collection
Protege of Michele Lamy, Dubai born, Paris based designer, Ahmed Abdelrahaman has just debuted his Fall 2016 womenswear collection. Noted for his take on merging Eastern and Western clothing traditions together, his unisex brand Thamanyah, has just released twelve looks specifically for women.
A brand that focuses on the recreation of androgyny, Thamanyah spoke exclusively to Style.com/Arabia about his latest venture into womenswear “I asked myself, ‘Where could I have been more honest?’ I revisited the most popular styles and upgraded them in terms of fit, comfort, finishing, and fabrics.” Nourishing the idea of his historical Middle Eastern roots, the collection revisits Thamanyah's classic white kandora that's been modernised for the female silhouette, as well playing with a diverse range of fabrics, tones and textures for the Ready-To-Wear line. Constantly exploring the conflict of genderless dressing, Abdelrahaman's Fall 2016 collection lives up to his signature brand aesthetic of architectural abstraction and darkened tones.
