Beijing born, New York based designer, Andrea Jiapei Li looks to Patti Smith's book 'Just Kids' for her Spring Summer 2016 collection. A rhythmic collection that highlighted the notion of modernism through asymmetry and juxtaposition, Andrea focused on playful silhouettes with just about everything being oversized. Stating that the collection was based around the book 'Just Kids', the designer was "intrigued by the idea of "adult kids"- adults that are as genuine and curious as kids." which was subtly emphasised in the collection with the title being cleverly woven into jacket sleeves and the back of the garments.
Divorcing herself from the norm, Andrea Jiapei Li has committed to her well known aesthetic of masculinity and sports luxe, combining that in an unparalleled style of textures and tones. A heavy vocal point on synergising men and womenswear with off the shoulder necklines and streamlined trousers, the designer discovers the core of 21st century modernism, highlighting no constraint to her brand.
