What Public School taught us for Fall 2016

Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow of Public School showcased their Fall 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week predicting what everyone will be wearing in the upcoming months. A basic colour palette of olives, blacks and greys were occasionally yet oddly brightened with a pink and red hue. Their narrative for Fall 16 was a girl in the 70's who lived in the Bronx and travelled to the West, hence the khaki colour palette meeting with the brashness of fluidity. Experimenting with proportions, volume and all round urban-ness, the duo commented on their latest collection "It's all about New York City being a lawless city, and the girl being outlawed, it's something we really have thought about early on and the wild wild west of New York growing up"

As an ode to old New York, here's waht Public School has taught us for Fall 2016-

  • They reinvent sportswear tailoring every season without looking like they just straightened out a tennis outfit.

  • New York looked cooler in the 70's.

  • Turtle necks no longer just stop at the neck.

  • Beanies are back.

  • Zips are still very important and always will be. Silver only.

  • The more oversized, the better, even if it looks like you're drowning in an uncomfortable amount of fabric.
