There's going to be a museum solely dedicated to the Olsens
The only relevant twins in fashion are now being granted an exhibition solely dedicated to their lives. Matt Harkins and Viviana Olen are crowd-funding on Kickstarter for a pop culture exhibition about their love of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Brooklyn based comedians will open the exhibit in April for two weeks, that is said to feature artwork from Laura Collins, a Chicago based artist who produced a series of paintings based around the Olsen's hiding from the paparazzi. Renowned for shying away from the camera, with their oversized sunglasses and vente coffee cups, Collins captures the twins perfectly through her paintings entitled 'The Olsen Twins Hiding From The Paparazzi', original. The series explores how “using a patented system of approximately 700 lbs of beautiful clothes, strategically high collars, face sized bags, and tiny house sized sunglasses, the Olsen's are able to hide themselves from unwanted photographers.”
The funded exhibition which has currently reached $9,500 spoke to Dazed about the Olsen's and their modern day status, and why people assume that this exhibition is a joke. "People instantly assume it’s a joke, but it’s not. We've spent the last year running tours in our hallway museum and have taken what we promised to do seriously. But we are comedians so we try to make things as fun as we can. Our main initiative with this was to show Laura Collins' art, and our role as curators is to present it in the most inviting and interesting way possible." Read the full interview on Dazed.
