Inside Sterling Ruby's clothing archive in London
After announcing that he will be showcasing his first clothing archive in London, LA-based artist Sterling Ruby is now displaying his work at Spruth Magers in West London. The installation entitled 'WORK WEAR: Garment and Textile Archive 2008-2016' represents a timeline of Ruby's work from his infamous bleached pieces to bags and ponchos that feature the fabrics used to create the artists quilts, collages, textiles and sculptures. The artist who's most celebrated in fashion for teaming up with Raf Simons is one of the few creative individuals contributing to the non linear market of street wear through his innovative approach to constructed garments and his love of the rebellious youth. The installation is currently showing at Spruth Magers London until April 9th.
