After just hosting their latest exhibition 'Fashion: A Second Skin', Dubai's rare hub of boundary pushing fashion, The cARTEL has announced it will be extending the innovative experience due to popular demand. Curated by owner, May Barber, the monochromatic showroom located in Al Qouz will explore the concept of fashion as a second skin through the interpretations of artist, Patricia Millns and designer Una Burke. Barber explained “The work of Patricia Mills and Una Burke, skilfully complements cARTel’s theme, to leave the audience overwhelmed. We are pleased to be the venue for their unique designs and offerings, and assure fashion lovers a truly mesmerising art experience.”
The themed exhibit is said to be "a manifestation of two artistic bodies of work each interpreting the idea of fashion and clothing as an independent shelter enclosing the female body and thoughts alike." Aiming to deconstruct the stereotypical connotations of women, gender and identity 'Fashion: A Second Skin' is providing a gateway for a more conceptual understanding of how different approaches to fashion can impose on more than just the female body but also the mind and soul. The exhibition which will be showcasing one off pieces, will be back on April 11th 2016.
