NYU Abu Dhabi explores digital division in fall exhibit
The contemporary space at NYU Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, conveniently entitled 'The Art Gallery' has announced it will be showcasing a very relevant art exhibition this fall. Invisible Threads: Technology and it's Discontents will be an exploration of everyday relationships with digital devices and the oppositional issues the 21st century is faced with; privacy vs. social media, isolation vs. connectedness etc.
The exhibition is set to feature 15 international artists such as Addie Wagenknecht, Ai Weiwei, Jamie Allen and more. The purpose of the exhibition? "A presentation of a global topic, framed by the region’s complex relationship to the benefits and pitfalls that accompany technological advances. The artworks expose these institutional and aesthetic frameworks of control, pulling back the curtain on a part of our lives that we have come to take for granted. The curators hope to generate dialog and reflection around our use of these everyday tools." Opening on 22nd September, The Art Gallery will be hosting this specific exhibition until December 31st 2016. To learn more visit here.
